Baseball and all the wonderful things that come out of it.

So I play baseball, crazy right, and I was thinking about all the great things that come out of it. Like hating your coach, to having an off day and everyone laughing at you, and just overall sadness. But really, I have a great time and just have those off days that everyone has. But today in particular I had a thought. If not for baseball, where would I be now? Smoking pot everyday and alcoholism? Eh, maybe. Its too hard to tell but I really do appreciate this sport and all that it has taught me. God, I sure do hate these days when I have to much time to think, here I go.

The level of focus it takes to play baseball is crazy. You may not think it, but if you don't focus you can't play. There is no argument and no room for excuses. You flat out have to know what is going on all the time and can't let your mind wander. Where does this fit in my life, you ask? Everyday. How can you get through any single day without focus? You can't. Driving, work, school. Just about everything takes focus. So thank you baseball.

And what about hard work? Doesn't all the above apply for hard work also? You need hard work and perseverance to get anywhere because people don't like lazy people. As for baseball, when you have 13 or 14 people on a team and everyone wants to play you have to earn your spot. Only way to earn it is to work for it. So thank you baseball again.

Baseball is not only a sport, its a life lesson. Thank you baseball and all that you have taught me. I owe ya.
